İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) İstanbul Volunteers, and SemtPati have launched a “Sahiplen İstanbul” (“Adopt A Four-Footed Friend, İstanbul!”) campaign to encourage people to adopt dogs held in İBB’s temporary shelters. Developed in line with the campaign’s goal of living harmoniously, sympathetically, and safely with stray animals, the SemtPati app provides users access to information about dogs whose temperament has been tested and whose basic training has been completed. Users who want to adopt a dog can fill out a form provided in the app and send it in. After the information has been checked by İstanbul Volunteers and the İBB Animal Welfare Department, they’ll be getting a new four-legged friend.
İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) has launched an “Adopt A Four-Footed Friend, İstanbul!” campaign to help dogs held in the municipality’s temporary shelters find a Forever Home. The campaign is being conducted jointly with İstanbul Volunteers and SemtPati. People who’d like to adopt a dog from the İBB shelters can apply for one using the SemtPati app. After the information has been checked by İstanbul Volunteers and the İBB Department of Animal Welfare, they’ll be getting a new four-legged friend of their own. The app gives users access to pages containing photographs and information (age, gender etc) about the dogs that are up for adoption and it also provides basic information about pet health and care. The SemtPati mobile app may be downloaded and installed free of charge on iOS and Android devices.

Noting that the SemtPati project had made important progress since the signing of an agreement with İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality a year and a half ago, project founder and Koç Holding Board of Directors member İpek Kıraç said “In this new phase of the project that we’re carrying out jointly with İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality and İstanbul Volunteers, we’re supporting widespread, effective adoption as a way of helping dogs find a loving home and family through our “Adopt A Four-Footed Friend, İstanbul!” campaign. Our project’s mobile app, whose original aim was to register strays, identify their needs, and support local governments in making data-based decisions about them, has been updated to address the issue of getting these animals adopted as well. Providing users with direct access to information about dogs whose temperament has been tested, whose basic training has been completed, and which are up for adoption not only makes it easier for people eager to add a new member to their families but will also help our four-legged friends find a home in much less time. If we can achieve that, we will have benefitted from the power of digital transformation and platforms in the adoption of our animal friends.”

Noting that Koç Group companies had also become the adoptive homes of nearly forty dogs from İBB shelters, İpek Kıraç said “These four-legged friends have found forever homes of their own at Arçelik, Ark İnşaat, Düzey, Koçtaş, Otokar, RMK Marine, Sendeo, and Tat Gıda headquarters and factories. We anticipate that more of our companies will also be joining in this effort in the period ahead. As the next step, we plan to expand the campaign to encompass a much larger ecosystem by encouraging adoption among Koç Group and dealership personnel. We will also expand the scope of our efforts to promote public awareness about strays and how to interact with them among different age groups to include primary school pupils as well.”
